The “Schiavello-Grillone” Photocatalysis Group of Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica dei Processi e dei Materiali (Università di Palermo) is interested in synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles, photodegradations of pollutants both in liquid and in gas phase, photosyntheses of useful organics and reactors and kinetics modelling. In the Photocatalysis labs of DICPM TiO2 films over glasses are also prepared by the dip-coating method. Recently a project financed by Italcementi Group is being carried out to prepare new photocatalytic concrete, whereas another project financed by SIRAP GEMA Group is aimed to support TiO2 over polymeric materials. In January 2008 the “Schiavello-Grillone” Photocatalysis Group together with Mario Pagliaro and Ignazio Licata constituted the “Sicily's Photovoltaics Research Pole”.
